Hagersbank (/hagersbank/ [Translation Unavailable]) is a subtropical Town located in Southdell Dutchy, Luqian Kingdom, within the Sylvanian Empire.

The name Hagersbank is derived from the Sylvin language, as Hagersbank was founded by Szyh Jourdain, who was culturaly Sylvin.

Climate

Hagersbank has a yearly average temperature of 14°C (57°F), with its average temperature during the summer being a cool 18°C (64°F) and its average temperature during the winter being a cool 11°C (51°F). Hagersbank receives an average of 226 cm/y (88 in/y) of precipitation, most of which comes in the form of snow during the pleasantly short winter months. Hagersbank covers an area of nearly 5 km2 (2 mi2), and an average elevation of 1884 m (6181 ft) above sea level.

Overview

Hagersbank was founded durring the late 13th century in summer of the year 1163, by Szyh Jourdain. The establishment of Hagersbank was only bairly constructed. The sheer number of problems with its founding were enough to make several of the backers funding Hagersbank's construction back out of the project. Szyh Jourdain pushed on reguardles, and Hagersbank was finished, but starts off as a terible place to live.

Hagersbank was built using the conventions of Sylvin durring the late 13th century. Naturaly, all settlmentss have their own look to them, and Hagersbank is no diffrent. The town's buildings feature waddle and daub construction with good timber frames and a stone foundation protected by thatched or shingled rooves. Most buildings with second floors are built in such a way as to overhang into the streets on the upper floors for more space, as building size seems to be the primary indicator of wealth within the community. Most buildings are not decorated with any integral features, but instead use ivy, flowers, and other natural elements in planters of on trellices to breathe life into the structure they grow upon.

Hagersbank is buildings are arranged arrounded highly ordered system of crampt cobblestone streets which form octogonal paterns, allowing the incides of the octagons to be common grounds for the buildings on the edges, be it for parkland, yardspace, plazas, or markets. The town sits behind an impressive looking clay brick wall. The wall is notable for querried stone blocks being used to renforce the clay bricks in the expected manner and locations. While the wall was built to the exact specifications of modern fortifications, one has to wonder why the money invested into creating such a well fortified wall wasnt spent on a less impressive looking wall crated from sturdier materials. Hagersbank's walls would endure a brief bombardment, but only from light siege weapons. It seems more likly the town's walls were not designed with defence in mind but rather lending the town a certain air with visitors. Hagersbank's boondoggle-of-a-fortified wall are in an unremarkable state. To some, this is the ideal sate for defences to be in. In need of absoutly nothing, and ready to serve the town as needed.

Looking around Hagersbank you immediately realise that the locals are looking back at you. All of them. Everywhere you look somone is staring back at you analytically, looking over every inch of you, your gear, and your companions. As you get close to people, their hands move closer to their belt knife, or dagger. You may want to watch where you go and what you say...

Civic Infrastructure

Hagersbank possesses a Galvanic Power Grid, which brings galvanic current to most if not all buildings in town, and permits a great many consumer goods to function within the Town. Hagersbank's grid is powered by a boiler and turbine based power plant.

Hagersbank's old civil lighting system was converted to Galvanic Lamps recently, and expanded to provide nighttime illumination to all city streets.

Hagersbank has a Parks and Recreation Department, which is responsible for the construction, management, and usage rights for all of its parks and parklands. They are not to be confused with the Office of Civil Groundskeeping as they do not hold authority over nor responsibility for Hagersbank's natural decorations nor waterways.

Hagersbank has a public schooling program overseen by the Hall of Sages who has the responsibility of ensuring access to affordable high-quality education in all basic classes (Reading, Writing, Mathmatics, General Sciences, General Arcana, and Social Education) is made available to all citizens.

Hagersbank has a public septic system, which allows its citizens to have indoor bathrooms. The septic system is overseen by the League of Sewerkeepers, who posses the legal authority to enforce all laws relating to the septic system, and are also tasked with its maintenance and upkeep.

Cultural Notes

The law within Hagersbank is highly corrupt, or does not apply to certain favored groups or castes. Strangers might be fleeced by local lawmen, evildoers can be absolved by a payment, and powerful gentry do as they please.

Hagersbank's mayor's house was built using a different architectural style from the rest of the town. The style used is characterized by grandeur of scale, simplicity of geometric forms, dramatic use of columns, and a preference for blank walls. This design ethos extended to re-imagining earlier styles of structure to create them anew, with a similar overall look and feel to one another..

In time immemorial, reportedly some time during the early 2nd century Hagersbank was struck by a devistating earthquake. The quake brought ruin to Hagersbank, which lost 262 people, 327 livestock, and 38 buildings in the earthquake. The day of the quake is remembered by many as Dread's Day.
